What Place Does Ayurveda Hold in Our Busy Life

Ayurvedic hospital

Ayurveda is quite old—5,000 years old or more. For those of us who live in the modern world, some of the ancient rituals may appear unattainable and out-of-date.

For instance, performing Dinacharya (an Ayurvedic daily ritual) in accordance with the old literature would require 1.5 to 2 hours every day. And! Find a stick to chew on, please. For whom does that have time? *No one puts up their hand.

This is why Ayurveda sometimes seems outdated and unsuitable for the modern world. The stick-chewing days of ancient times are nothing like our fast-paced modern lifestyle. So it would be silly to assume that we can apply the same strategies and have them produce the same results. Right?

Yes, in some respects. But not entirely. We haven't changed as humans; if anything, we've drifted further from the magnificent nature that we were created to coexist with. The practice of Ayurveda assists us to reconnect with both ourselves and nature. So, undoubtedly, the world is changing, and so are our bodies, thoughts, and perceptions. The roots of the Ayurvedic lifestyle, diet, meditation, and general wellness principles can, nonetheless, be used to improve the quality of our lives today.

5 Approaches for Including Ayurveda in Your Busy Life

Let's modify the conventional Ayurvedic regimen in a nice, approachable manner. Repeat these every day in sequence.  Ready?!

1. Rise early

What comes first? Early in the morning, ideally, before sunlight, get your booty out of bed.

Ayurveda recommends rising before the sun during Vata time. Vata is the energy of motion, so if you get up early, you'll have plenty of energy for the day, just like the wind in your sails. The only exceptions are people who are ill, elderly, young, or pregnant, in which case it is OK to sleep a bit later.

2. Give yourself some time

You must start the day with yourself before you can take care of anything or anyone else. Not the telephone,  not your children as well. It is your duty to first make yourself whole.

If you are not full, you cannot be good for anyone else or any undertaking.

The worst part is that most people ignore this! Most people prioritize their phone, inbox, news, or children before anything else. And they ponder why they feel pressured, behind schedule, or downhearted to begin the day.

It's as a result of them not first caring for themselves. This will transform your life, I promise. Take this seriously and say it out loud with me: "Me first." I know you want to be your best self for everything you show up for every day. As your day progresses, remember to take care of yourself now that you've made a commitment.

3. Get Moving

Third, engage in a quick workout to make yourself a little sweaty. It need not be lengthy; 15 minutes will do. But the trick is to do it daily. This is not a gym membership where you visit twice or three times per week to work out. This is a general life principle. Get a bit sweaty every day in the morning before you begin your day. We need to eliminate waste products every day for healthy tissues and a contented mood because sweat is a waste product.

4. Reflect/ Meditate

Next, spend five to ten minutes in meditation. Your mind is prepared for meditation now that your body has moved and you have a little bit of sweat on you. If you can only do five minutes, then do five minutes. You may work your way up to longer sessions. And do that every day till you croak (looking at you, vatas).

And that's it till evening! Continually be happy and helpful as you go about your day.

5. Get an early night.

Go to bed early at night so you can wake up early in the morning because this will determine how the rest of the day will go. Go to bed at least 10 hours early. Most people also avoid doing this. Most individuals return to their phones, inboxes, or the news after dinner. Then they ponder why they are unhappy, stressed out about tomorrow, or stressed out at the conclusion of the day.

But listen, pitta time begins at ten o'clock. Pitta is the energy of transformation, and when it alters your ideas, food, emotions, and everything from the day, it might feel like a "second wind." Therefore, get to bed before that occurs!

Now Go Do It

If you follow these recommendations, you excel at incorporating Ayurveda into your hectic schedule.  I dare you to carry out each of these five exercises continuously for two weeks without skipping a day. Get a journal and write down how you are feeling different.

Continue if you feel better. Daily! Never skip a beat

Then carry it out. Each and every day.

Every single person who loves you would agree that you are worth it. Do it for you. Give it to them. Do it because of the help you are giving to others.

Do it in honor of the reason your spirit chose to take birth on the world.
